Al-imam An-Nawawi
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Bismi ’Allahi ’arrahmani ’arrahim
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
بِسْمِ اللهِ ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ ،
bismi ’Allah, ’Allahu ’akbar, ’Allahu ’akbar, ’Allahu ’akbar,
In the name of Allah, Allah is Greatest, Allah is Greatest, Allah is Greatest.
أقُولُ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَعَلَى دِينِي ، وَعَلَى أهْلِي ، وَعَلَى أوْلاَدِي ، وَعَلَى مَالِي ، وَعَلَى أصْحَابِي ، وَعَلَى أدْيَانِهِمْ ، وَعَلَى أمْوَالِهِمْ ألْفَ بِسْمِ اللهِ ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ ،
’aqulu ‘ala nafsi wa ‘ala dini wa ‘ala ’ahli wa ‘ala ’awladi wa ‘ala mali wa ‘ala ’ashabi wa ‘ala ’adyanihim wa ‘ala ’amwalihim ’alfa bismi ’Allah, ’Allahu ’akbar, ’Allahu ’akbar, ’Allahu ’akbar,
I say: on myself, my religion, my people (wife), my children, my wealth, my friends (companions) on their religion and wealth thousand of: In the name of Allah, Allah is Greatest, Allah is Greatest, Allah is Greatest.
أقُولُ عَلَى نَفْسِي ، وَعَلَى دِينِي ، وَعَلَى أهْلِي ، وَعَلَى أوْلاَدِي ، وَعَلَى مَالِي ، وَعَلَى أصْحَابِي ، وَعَلَى أدْيَانِهِمْ ، وَعَلَى أمْوَالِهِمْ ألْفَ ألْفِ بِسْمِ اللهِ ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ، اللهُ أكْبَرُ ،
’aqulu ‘ala nafsi wa ‘ala dini wa ‘ala ’ahli wa ‘ala ’awladi wa ‘ala mali wa ‘ala ’ashabi wa ‘ala ’adyanihim wa ‘ala ’amwalihim ’alfa ’alfi bismi ’Allah, ’Allahu ’akbar, ’Allahu ’akbar, ’Allahu ’akbar,

’aqulu ‘ala nafsi wa ‘ala dini wa ‘ala ’ahli wa ‘ala ’awladi wa ‘ala mali wa ‘ala ’ashabi wa ‘ala ’adyanihim wa ‘ala ’amwalihim ’alfa ’alfi ’alfi la hawla wa la quwwata ’illa billahi ’al‘aliyyi ’al‘azim,
I say: on myself, my religion, my people (wife), my children, my wealth, my friends (companions) on their religion and wealth thousand and thousand and thousand of: No Power (and Rule) except that of Allah The Most High and Supreme.]
بِسْمِ اللهِ ، وَبِاللهِ ، وَمِنَ اللهِ ، وَإِلَى اللهِ ، وَعَلَى اللهِ ، وَفِي اللهِ ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللهِ العَلِيِّ العَظِيمِ .
bismi ’Allahi, wa billahi, wa mina ’Allahi, wa ’ila ’Allahi, wa ‘ala ’Allahi, wa fi ’Allahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata ’illa billahi ’al‘aliyyi ’al‘azim.
In the name of Allah, By Allah, From Allah, To Allah, Upon Allah, In Allah and No power (and Rule) except that of Allah The Most High and Supreme.
بِسْمِ اللهِ عَلَى دِينِي ، وَعَلَى نَفْسِي ، وَعَلَى أوْلاَدِي ، بِسْمِ اللهِ عَلَى مَالِي ، وَعَلَى أهْلِي ، بِسْمِ اللهِ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ أعْطَانِيهِ رَبِّي ،
bismi ’Allahi ‘ala dini wa ‘ala nafsi wa ‘ala ’awladi, bismi ’Allahi ‘ala mali wa ‘ala ’ahli, bismi ’Allahi ‘ala kulli shay’in ’a‘tanihi rabbi
In the name of Allah: is on my religion, on myself, on my children. In the name of Allah: is on my wealth and my people (wife). In the name of Allah: is on every thing that my lord gave to me.
بِسْمِ اللهِ رَبِّ السَّمَواتِ السَّبْعِ ، وَرَبِّ الأَرَضِينَ السَّبْعِ ، وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ .
bismi ’Allahi rabbi ’assamawati ’assab‘i wa rabbi ’al’aradina ’assab‘i wa rabbi ’al‘arshi ’al‘azim.
In the name of Allah, the Lord of the seven heavens, the Lord of the seven earths and the Lord of the Supreme Throne (of Glory).
بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لاَ يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ-ثلاثاً-
bismi ’Allahi ’alladhi la yadurru ma‘a ’ismihi shay’un fi ’al’rdi wa la fi ’assama’i wa huwa ’assami‘u ’al‘alim. -3 times-
In the name of Allah, for with his name nothing can harm us in the earth or heaven, He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
بِسْمِ اللهِ خَيْرِ الأَسْمَاءِ فِي الأَرْضِ وَفِي السَّمَاءِ ، بِسْمِ اللهِ افْتَتِحُ وَبِهِ أخْتَتِمُ .
bismi ’Allahi khayri ’al’asma’i fi ’al’rdi wa fi ’assama’i, bismi ’Allahi ’aftatihu wa bihi ’akhtatim.
In the name of Allah, The best name of all names in earth and heaven. In the name of Allah, I start and in the name of Allah I conclude.
الله ، الله ، الله - اللهُ رَبِّي لاَ أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئاً .
’Allah, ’Allah, ’Allah, ’Allahu rabbi la ’ushriku bihi shay’a.
Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah my Lord, I believe that He has no any partner.
الله ، الله ، الله - اللهُ رَبِّي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ .
’Allah, ’Allah, ’Allah, ’Allahu rabbi la ’ilaha ’illa ’Allah.
Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah my Lord, There is no god But Allah.
اللهُ أعَزُّ وَأجَلُّ وَأكْبَرُ مِمَّا أخَافُ وَأحْذَرُ ،
’Allahu ’a‘azzu wa ’ajallu wa ’akbaru mimma ’akhafu wa ’ahdhar.
Allah is able to inforce his will, supreme, Exalted and Greater than whatever can be scared from, or worried about.
بِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أعُوذُ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ غَيْرِي ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ رَبِّي وَذَرَأ وَبَرَأ. وَبِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أحْتَرِزُ مِنْهُمْ
bika ’Allahumma ’a‘udhu min sharri nafsi, wa min sharri ghayri wa min sharri ma khalaqa rabbi wa dhara’a wa bara’, wa bika ’Allahumma ’ahtarizu minhum
In You O, Allah, I seek refuge from the evil of myself, the evil of the others and the evil of whatever created, produced in abundance and brought in existance by my Lord. By You (Allah) I shield myself from them.
وَبِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أعُوذُ مِنْ شُرُورِهِمْ ، وَبِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أدْرَأُ فِي نُحُورِهِمْ ،
wa bika ’Allahumma ’a‘udhu min shururihim, wa bika ’Allahumma ’adra’u fi nuhurihim,
In You (Allah), I seek refuge from their evils. And by You (Allah) I avert on their front necks (push them away).
وَأُقَدِّمُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ وَأيْدِيهِمْ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ . قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أحَدٌ ، اللهُ الصَّمَدُ ، لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أحَدٌ -ثلاثاً-
wa ’uqaddimu bayna yadayya wa ’aydihim bismi ’Allihi ’arrahmani ’arrahim. Qul huwa ’Allahu ’ahad, ’Allahu ’assamad, lam yalid wa lam yulad wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ’ahad, -3 times-
I put between my hands, and their hands: In the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful: Say He is Allah, The One and Only, Allah the Eternal, Absolute. He begetteth not, Nore is He begotten and there is none like unto Him.
وَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ عَنْ يَمِينِي وَأيْمَانِهِمْ وَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ عَنْ شَمَالِي وَشَمَائِلِهِمْ ، وَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ أمَامِي وَأمَامَهُمْ ، وَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ خَلْفِي وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ وَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ فَوْقِي وَمِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ ، وَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ تَحْتِي وَمِنْ تَحْتِهِمْ ، وَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ مُحِيطٌ بِي وَبِهِمْ .
wa mithlu dhalika ‘an yamini wa ’aymanihim wa mithlu dhalika ‘an shamali wa shama’ilihim, wa mithlu dhalika ’amami wa ’amamahum, wa mithlu dhalika min khalfi wa min khalfihim wa mithlu dhalika min fawqi wa min fawqihim, wa mithlu dhalika min tahti wa min tahtihim wa mithlu dhalika muhitun bi wa bihim.
Like that (what already mentioned) is by my right side and their rights. Like that by my left side and their lefts. Like that in front of me and at their fronts. Like that on my back (behind me) and their backs. Like that above me and above them. Like that under me and under them, and like that surrounding me and surrounding them all together.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أسْألُكَ لِي وَلَهُمْ مِنْ خَيْرِكَ بِخَيْرِكَ الَّذِي لاَ يَمْلِكُهُ غَيْرُكَ .
’Allahumma ’inni ’as’aluka li wa lahum min khayrika bikhayrika ’alladhi la yamlukuhu ghayruk.
O, Allah, I call on You for me and for them, to grant us from Your good and by Your good, which can not be from (belong) any one except You.
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي وَإِيَّاهُمْ فِي عِبَادِكَ ، وَعِيَاذِكَ ، وَعِيَالِكَ ، وَجِوَارِكَ ، وَأمَانَتِكَ ، وَحِرْزِكَ ، وَحِزْبِكَ ، وَكَنَفِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ ، وَسُلْطَانٍ ، وَإِنْسٍ ، وَجَانٍّ ، وَبَاغٍ ، وَحَاسِدٍ ، وَسَبْعٍ ، وَعَقْرَبٍ ، وَحَيَّةٍ ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ أنْتَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ .
’Allahumma ’ij‘alni wa ’iyyahum fi ‘ibadika wa ‘iyadhika wa ‘iyalika wa jiwarika wa ’amanatika wa hirzika wa hizbika wa kanafika min sharri kulli shaytanin wa sultanin wa ’insin wa jannin wa baghin wa hasidin wa sab‘in wa ‘aqrabin wa hayyatin wa min kulli dabbatin ’anta ’akhidhun binasiyatiha ’inna rabbi ‘ala siratin mustaqim.
O, Allah make me and them from Your servants, accept us to be under Your shelter, to be from Your children, to be from Your protected, from those in Your trust, under your shield, from Your party, and under Your cover from any evil of satan, sultan (ruler), mankind, jinn, trespasser, enveyer, wolf (wild animal), scorpion, snake and/or any moving creature You hath crasp of its forelock. Verily it is my lord That is on straight Path.
حَسْبِيَ الرَّبُّ مِنَ المَرْبُوبِينَ ، حَسْبِيَ الخَالِقُ مِنَ المَخْلُوقِينَ ، حَسْبِيَ الرَّازِقُ مِنَ المَرْزُوقِينَ ، حَسْبِيَ السَّاتِرُ مِنَ المَسْتُورِينَ ، حَسْبِيَ النَّاصِرُ مِنَ المَنْصُورِينَ ، حَسْبِيَ القَاهِرُ مِنَ المَقْهُورِينَ ،
hasbiya ’arrabbu min ’almarbubin, hasbiya ’alkhaliqu min ’almakhluqin, hasbyia ’arraziqu min ’almarzuqin, hasbiya ’assatiru min ’almasturin, hasbiya ’annasiru min ’almansurin, hasbiya ’laqahiru min ’almaqhurin,
The Lord is sufficeth for me; from those under his lordship. The Creater is sufficeth for me; from the created. The Provider of sustenance is sufficeth for me; from those depend on Him in their sustenance. The Protector is srfficeth for me; from those under his protection (cover). The Helper is sufficeth for me; from those needing his help. The Irresistable is sufficeth for me; from those falls under His Power and can not resist against it.
حَسْبِيَ الَّذِي هُوَ حَسْبِي ، حَسْبِي مَنْ لَمْ يَزَلْ حَسْبِي ، حَسْبِيَ اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الوَكِيلُ . حَسْبِيَ اللهُ مِنْ جَمِيعِ خَلْقِهِ .
hasbiya ’alladhi huwa hasbi, hasbi man lam yazal hasbi, hasbiya ’Allahu wa ni‘ma ’alwakil, hasbiya ’Allahu min jami‘i khalqihi.
He is sufficeth for me, The One Who is always sufficeth for me, and He is still sufficeth for me. Allah sufficeth for me. Allah is the best Disposer of my affairs, Allah is sufficeth for me from all of his creation.
إِنَّ وَلِيِّيَ اللهُ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الكِتَابَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى الصَّالِحِينَ .
’inna waliyyiya ’Allah ’alladhi nazzala ’alkitaba wa huwa yatawalla ’assalihin.
For my Protector is Allah, who revealed the Book (From time to time) and He will choose and be friend of the righteous.
وَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ القُرْآنَ جَعَلْنَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالآخِرَةِ حِجَاباً مَسْتُوراً ، وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَى قُلُوِبهِمْ أكِنَّةً أنْ يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْراً .
wa ’idha qara’ta ’alqur’ana ja‘alna baynaka wa bayna ’alladhina la yu’minuna bil’akhirati hijaban mastura, wa ja‘alna ‘ala qulubihim ’akinnatan ’an yafqahuhu wa fi ’adhanihim waqara.
Then thou dost recite The Quran, we put, between thee and those who believe not in the Hereafter, a veil invisible, and we put coverings over their hearts (and minds) lest they should understand The Qur’an, and deafness, Into their ears.
وَإِذَا ذَكَرْتَ رَبَّكَ فِي القُرْآنِ وَحْدَهُ وَلَّوْا عَلَى أدْبَارِهِمْ نُفُوراً .
wa ’idha dhakarta rabbaka fi ’alqur’ani wahdahu wallu ‘ala ’adbarihim nufura.
When Thou Dost commemorate thy Lord And him alone – in the Qur’an – they turn on their backs, fleeing (from the truth).
فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ العَرْشِ العَظِيمِ -سبعاً-
fa ’in tawallaw fa qul hasbiya ’Allahu la ’ilaha ’illa huwa ‘alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbu ’al‘arshi ’al‘azim.-7 times-
But if they turn away, say: “ Allah sufficeth for me: there is no god But He: On Him is my trust. He the Lord of The Throne (of Glory) Supreme ”.
وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللهِ العَلِيِّ العَظِيمِ ، وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلَّمْ .
wa la hawla wa la quwwata ’ila billahi ’al‘aliyyi ’al‘azim, wa salla ’Allahu ‘ala sayyidina Muhammadin wa ‘ala ’alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam.
And no power (and Rule) except that of Allah the most high and Supreme. Allah prayers and salutations upon sayyidinā Muhammad, his family and companions.
At this juncture the reciter has to blow (without saliva) by his mouth 3 times at his right, 3 times at his left, 3 times at his front, and 3 times at his back (behind him). Then reads the following:]
خَبَّأْتُ نَفْسِي وَأنْفُسَهُمْ فِي خَزَائِنِ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ، أقْفَالُهَا ثِقَتِي بِاللهِ ، مَفَاتِيحُهَا لاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللهِ . أُدَافِعُ بِكَ اللَّهُمَّ عَنْ نَفْسِي مَا أُطِيقُ وَمَا لاَ أُطِيقُ ، لاَ طَاقَةَ لِمَخْلُوقٍ مَعَ قُدْرَةِ الخَالِقِ ،
khabba’tu nafsi wa ’anfusahum fi khaza’ini bismi ’Allahi ’arrahmani ’arrahim, ’aqfaluha thiqati billah, mafatihuha la quwwata ’illa billah, ’udafi‘u bika ’Allahumma an nafsi ma ’utiqu wa ma la ’utiq, la taqata limakhluqin ma‘a qudrati ’alkhaliq,
I hide my self and themselves in the safes of: In the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful, its locks are my trust in Allah, its keys are: (No power (and Rule) except that of Allah) By You Allah I defend myself against what I can and what I cannot. There is no power of a created being can stand with the Power of The Creator.
حَسْبِيَ اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الوَكِيلُ . وَصَلِّ اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الأُمِّيِّ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلِّمْ .
[eng]hasbiya ’Allahu wa ni‘ma ’alwakil. wa salli ’Allahumma ‘ala sayyidina Muhammadin ’annabiyyi ’al’ummiyyi wa ‘ala ’alihi wa sahbihi wa sallim.
Allah is sufficeth for me and he is the best Disposer of my affairs. O, Allah pray for and salute sayyidina Muhammad, the unlettered prophet, his family and companions.
